On March 4th of this year, Michael Rhodes, one of the most dynamic musicians ever to grace a recording studio, or the worlds live music stage, passed quietly away. The sense of grief and loss felt by Nashville’s creative community was as much for the man as for the world class bass guitar player no longer a phone call away. Whip-smart, intense, charming, charismatic, loyal, sensitive, hilariously funny punster, appropriately sarcastic, sexy, vulnerable  and deeply, spiritual rascal are just a few of the adjectives that describe the man so well loved by his family, friends and collaborators. Alison Prestwood was well on the way to framing a portrait of Michael in a song she had started titled “Beautiful Man” when she asked if I’d help finish the tune. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity. With a camera crew on hand to film a group of his close friends recording the song, through laughter and tears we managed to bring the song to life. Today is Michael's 70th birthday. We hope you will enjoy this tribute to a most beautiful man.
